Pune city is the ninth most populous city of India and second largest city of Maharashtra state with estimated population of above 4 million. In 18^th Century, it was once the base of the Peshwas, the prime minister of the Maratha Empire,   which lasted 1674 to 1818 and so was one of the most important political centres on the Indian subcontinent.                                                      

The city considered to be the cultural capital of Maharashtra state and it is also known as the “Oxford of the East” due to the presence of several well-known educational institutions.                                                       

Pune lies on the western margin of the Deccan plateau, at an altitude of 560 m (1,840 ft) above sea level. As per my experience climate in Pune are frequently changing but, nights are usually cool due to Pune’s high altitude.
